Abstract: The critical HTR-experiment CESAR-2 was performed in cooperation between the KFA-Jülich GmbH and the french atomic energy authority CEA in order to test numerical predictions of the neutronphysical behaviour of High-Temperature Reactors. The presented report describes the experiment, the used methods and computer-codes for the neutron-physical calculations and gives a detailed comparison of measured and calculated values, like reaction rates, spectral indices and conversion ratios. According to the observed differences between theory and experiment which can be essentially referred to problems in calculation of resonance absorption for strong heterogeneous fuel elements, the limits for a suitable application of the examined computer-codes are described.
